Words cannot describe how humbled and appreciative I am to have been re-elected by the people of Virginia Beach! It’s an incredible honor to serve and represent our community. I embrace the challenges we face and am committed to putting in the work to advocate for our great city.
I’d like to thank Bill Dale for his decades of service to our community and for running a good race that was focused on the issues. I’d also like to extend my thanks to our volunteers who went above and beyond for our campaign, and for all of you who have voted for me for re-election. And of course, I am so thankful for the support of my family – especially my husband, whose unwavering dedication in managing both of my campaigns is so appreciated. I am amazed and humbled to have received 116,971 votes, which I believe breaks the record for the highest number of votes in a contested race for any Virginia Beach City Council candidate. This could not have been possible without all of you!
Thank you to all the local candidates for putting their name and message out there and getting our community involved in civic engagement, which takes a lot of determination. Congratulations to all the candidates who won hard-earned races – Mayor Bobby Dyer, Councilmembers Rosemary Wilson, Sabrina Wooten and Michael Berlucchi, and School Board Members Beverly Anderson, Vicky Manning, Trenace Riggs and Jessica Owens. I’d also like to congratulate Jennifer Franklin who will now represent the Kempsville District on the School Board!
You may not be hearing about local election results from all over the country, but they are very important in determining the direction of our community. A sincere thank you to all of you who made your voices heard!
